The Chesapeake Chapter hosted its 3rd Annual banquet at the Engineers Club in Baltimore to honor the area’s Systems Engineering Professionals (SEPs).  The event drew nearly 40 SE professionals and their guests from the Maryland, Washington DC and Northern Virginia region.  We were privileged to have three honored speakers at this year’s event.  They included John Thomas, the President of INCOSE, Ray Jorgensen, the INCOSE Americas Sector Director, and Jerry Fisher, INCOSE Fellow and Chair of the INCOSE Certification Advisory Group.  Ray Jorgensen explained the inner workings and highlighted the benefits of INCOSE’s recent worldwide reorganization into sectors.  Ray also spotlighted a number of key areas and activities where members can volunteer and contribute to INCOSE.  His presentation can be found at 2012_08_29_Jorgensen_INCOSE Americas Sector Increased Value Jerry Fisher delivered a very sobering presentation on the state of science and engineering in the US in comparison to the rest of the world and spoke of the challenges we face in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education.  Look for a paper from Jerry on this topic at the 2013 International Symposium in Philadelphia!  You can download his slides at 2012_08_29_Fisher-Chesapeake Chapter R6.   Fine dining was enjoyed by all and at the end of the evening we recognized Rich Schramke, John Thomas, Gary Wieboldt and Paul Woodbine for their certification achievements.  If you haven’t done so already, work on obtaining your INCOSE SE certification and make plans to join us at next year’s gala!

Below is a slide show of the event. Enjoy. (If you don’t see the pictures below then try a different browser or go to our Picasa album.)
