Dinner Meeting – Wednesday 17 February 2010
Putting MANAGEMENT into Your Requirements Management

Peter Baxter;
President
— Distributive Management

Presentation: While requirements engineering and requirements tools have become widely adopted, the number of software project failures attributed to poor requirements management remains high. Even though metrics that focus on requirements engineering are widely available, often only the most advanced and mature organizations actually use them. In this presentation, Peter Baxter President of Distributive Management, delivers practical guidance on why and how to measure, and then manage, requirements, including recommended Requirements Management visuals.

Meal: Chicken breast with mushroom marsala sauce; Wild rice; and Steamed Broccoli.

The Nature of Technology: What It Is and How It Evolves
by W. Brian Arthur

Tutorial – 27-28 February 2010

"The OMG Systems Modeling Language" and
"Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Method"

Mr. Sanford Friedenthal; Chair of DSIG,
Co-Chair of INCOSE MBSE Initiative

Presentation: Part 1 of this tutorial provides an introduction to how SysML can address the needs of the systems engineer. The OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™) is a general-purpose graphical modeling language for specifying, analyzing, designing, and verifying complex systems that may include hardware, software, information, personnel, procedures, and facilities.
Part 2 of the tutorial will introduce an Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Method (OOSEM), which integrates a top down systems approach with object oriented concepts and modeling techniques. This methodology uses the extension to UML for systems engineering called the OMG Systems Modeling Language (OMG SysML™). OOSEM brings to Systems Engineering a technique for leveraging some of the expressiveness of SysML and the advantages of OO to help architect more flexible, extensible, and upgradeable systems with new evolving technology.
.
Tutorial Cost: $60.00 each Part ($120 for both) includes continental breakfast and lunch. Optional: Copy of “A Practical Guide to SysML” obtained by INCOSE-CC for this Tutorial: $40.00 (Qty limited, first come-first serve).
