Forbes names Baltimore 2nd for Tech Work in the U.S.

Congratulations to Baltimore!!!

According to their research, which looked at the most recent high-tech employment data from metropolitan areas around the country Forbes Magazine found that Baltimore ranked 2nd in the U.S. for tech jobs.

This might be surprising to some but not me. As I previously noted Baltimore is a vibrant center for technological advancement.

Forbes cites that a “huge advantage appears to be closeness to the federal government, which expends hundreds of billions on tech products both hardware and software”.

While that’s definitely true their statement fails to note a significant part of what makes Baltimore a great place for tech work.

Baltimore has a wide spectrum of technology areas represented in their community. It’s this that creates huge opportunities for companies to grow and thrive here. Healthcare, Education, Bioscience, Performance Apparel, Web Marketing, Social Media, Cyber Security, Telecommunications  and Video Gaming are all contributors to the high tech boom in Baltimore.

Let’s not forget about local professional organizations either…The solidarity they bring to people working in the high tech fields greatly contributes to the vibrancy of the area as well.

I think I know one professional organization in particular that’s been steadily growing in popularity and prominence over the last 10 years.

Can you guess which professional organization I’m thinking of???
