Nominations being sought for 2013 INCOSE-CC Board of Directors

BOARD OF DIRECTORS (BOD)
2012 ELECTIONS  

 Welcome to the elections process. It is that time of year again. This year’s election should be an important part of your plan to get the most value out of your INCOSE chapter membership.  

Running for office is simple. If you are a member in good standing, you can file for any of the open positions. This year the three open positions are:

  • President-elect
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Communications 

Below is a list of primary roles and responsibilities for each position. While this list was taken from the 2012 INCOSE-CC Operating Plan all prospective candidates should consult the document for additional details and context. 

President Elect

  • Update, maintain, and interpret the Chapter Operating Plan and the Strategic Plan.
  • Is the point-of-contact for revisions to the Constitution and Bylaws.
  • Coordinates with the Programs Committee Chairman and Past President to insure schedules and program objectives are met.
  • Preside at CC and BOD Meetings when President is not present.
  • Work with the Membership Committee Chairman on membership drives and organizational outreach.
  • Provide liaison with the INCOSE Foundation and lead the annual scholarship program for the Chapter.
  • Support the success of the newsletter by providing articles or column reports. 

Treasurer 

  • Create the CC yearly Treasurer’s Report . 
  • Prepare Chapter budget based on inputs from BOD.
  • Prepare and provide to the BOD a monthly report on income and expenses charged to the budget.
  • Prepare the annual financial report to INCOSE INTERNATIONAL and support the BOD Audit Committee.
  • Manages the reservations and receipt of monies for all CC events.
  • Retrieve CC mail from the Chapter Mailbox in Laurel, MD, each month prior to the BOD meeting.
  • Support the success of the newsletter by providing articles or column reports.  

Director of Communications

  • Disseminate information among CHAPTER members; publicize the events and activities with emphasis on the use of the Chapter Web Site and making email announcements.
  • Manage and control all aspects of the Chapter website and supervises a communication committee composed of chapter members. 
  • Inform the Board of Directors of updates to Web site so they can review and provide feedback.
  • Establish and update the Communications Committee’s mailing list from data provided by the Membership Committee and electronically distribute the monthly Chapter Newsletter.
  • Provide the Board of Directors with a draft monthly Chapter Newsletter so they can review and provide feedback.
  • Assemble and distribute email to the membership when directed by the Board.

16 January 2012 New officers and director sworn in and installed

 

There is another path to the BoD. INCOSE Chesapeake members can attend any board meeting or get involved in any of the committees. Additionally, the chapter is always in need of volunteers to assist with various activies. Especially in the areas of Chapter Outreach, SE focused initiatives, and Technical SE Working Groups.
